ENERTRAG on a course for growth: Strong financial year and new management structure
ENERTRAG is continuing on its path of growth and is well-positioned as it enters the new financial year. In recent years, the company has successfully developed into an integrated renewable energy provider and today combines electricity generation, storage solutions and hydrogen technologies in the ENERTRAG Verbundkraftwerk® – a system that intelligently links renewable energies and storage technologies to deliver reliable energy at all times. With a project pipeline of 35 GW, ENERTRAG operates in nine countries and is consistently driving forward the implementation of wind, solar, storage and hydrogen projects in Germany and internationally.
Successes in the 2025/26 financial year
The past financial year has delivered strong results. ENERTRAG expects a net profit of around €34 million, representing a significant increase on the previous year (€25 million). In Germany, the company secured auction awards for wind projects with a total capacity of over 300 MW; projects totalling around 500 MW are currently under construction. Another milestone was the full placement of the ENERTRAG FestZins 2033 and 2035 bonds, with a volume of €16 million, in just over two months.
ENERTRAG has strategically expanded its company-wide digitalisation efforts and is working on the redesign of key business processes. The topping-out ceremony for the new service hall in Dauerthal underscored the company’s commitment to service and training. With the inauguration of the new office in Edemissen, ENERTRAG Betrieb is strengthening its regional presence. The ground-breaking ceremony for the Wensickendorf hydrogen plant marks an important step towards future hydrogen supply for the Heidekrautbahn; commissioning is planned for the end of 2026. New, larger contracts in the inspection sector further strengthen ENERTRAG Betrieb’s business.
New Executive Board structure at the start of the financial year
At the start of the new financial year, ENERTRAG has also reorganised its Executive Board. Dr Tobias Bischof-Niemz, who as Executive Director for International Projects & Technology contributed to international expansion and the further development of key hydrogen projects, is leaving the company at his own request on 31 May 2026 to pursue new professional opportunities.
Dr Gunar Hering, CEO of ENERTRAG: “Dr Bischof-Niemz has achieved extraordinary things during his time at ENERTRAG. With his clear thinking and creative drive, he has taken our company forward in a decisive manner. We thank him warmly for his great commitment and wish him all the best for his new path.”
Dr Tobias Bischof-Niemz: “The energy transition is entering a new phase: wind and solar power are the cheapest forms of electricity generation worldwide and are becoming the new primary energy source for our energy system. At ENERTRAG, we are working to make this primary energy usable across all sectors in a way that benefits the system – in the form of electricity, hydrogen and heat. It has been a great pleasure for me to shape this path together with many dedicated colleagues and strong partners."
Since 1 April 2026, a three-member Executive Board has been leading ENERTRAG with a clear division of responsibilities: Dr Gunar Hering (CEO) is responsible for the project business, Dr Anne Bendzulla (COO) for generation, engineering and project implementation, and Simon Hagedorn (CFO) for finance, energy management and the commercial project business. With this structure, ENERTRAG is consolidating responsibilities and aligning the Executive Board specifically towards the implementation of its further growth.
