Repowering with ENERTRAG

Proven location. New wind turbines.

Modern wind turbines generate a higher electricity yield, secure long-term income and advance the energy transition in your region. Find out how repowering can make your sites fit for the future.

What is repowering?

Older wind turbines are replaced by modern turbines. This increases the electricity yield, secures long-term income and continues to use existing sites for the future.

Repowering leads to ...

  • higher energy yields
  • more efficient use of space
  • better economic efficiency thanks to modern technology
  • often fewer wind turbines in the wind farm
  • added value that remains in the region
  • improved grid integration thanks to grid-friendly new wind turbines
  • an effective contribution to climate protection

What are the advantages of repowering?

Modern wind turbines are more reliable, more grid-friendly and require significantly less maintenance than older models. They supply more electricity from the same area and therefore increase the profitability of the entire wind farm. For you, this means predictable yields and stable calculations.

Repowering creates long-term operational and yield security for existing parks that have reached their technical or economic limits. ENERTRAG works with you to develop cooperation models so that you can continue to expect predictable income in the future.

ENERTRAG organizes the entire dismantling process - from dismantling to recycling. Are you planning to sell your plant? Here too, we offer solutions and are at your side as a reliable partner.

Repowering increases the output of the wind farm – and the municipality's income. In the long term, higher trade tax revenues and municipal taxes strengthen the budget; new projects can bring additional orders for regional companies. Repowering thus contributes directly to local economic development – which can also lead to greater acceptance among the population.

For landowners, repowering means long-term security. Attractive lease models and long-term partnerships ensure stable and often higher income. The usually lower number of turbines and optimized use of infrastructure means that parts of the former wind farm areas can be returned to agricultural use.

The repowering process with ENERTRAG

We start with a free potential analysis and check existing wind turbines for their repowering capability. This includes checking the eligibility for approval of new turbines and, for example, the availability of land and the economic potential. Together with you, we develop the right path to your successful repowering.

Step 1: Site analysis

We evaluate the existing wind farm technically, economically and in terms of licensing law. This enables us to identify potential at an early stage and develop individual measures to make the wind farm more efficient and profitable.

Step 2: Securing land

We conclude new licensing agreements with the landowners and acquire the old existing wind farm if required.

Step 3: Planning & approval

We create a tailor-made concept that takes all regulatory requirements into account. We use our experience to ensure that the procedures are transparent and efficient.

Step 4: Dismantling & new construction

Development of a customized repowering concept, taking into account all legal requirements. The old turbines are safely dismantled and professionally recycled and disposed of. At the same time, we erect the new, more powerful turbines. In this way, we ensure short transition periods and a rapid resumption of electricity production.

Step 5: Commissioning & monitoring

Once the system has been handed over, we continuously monitor its performance, secure long-term yields and support you at all times with our service and maintenance services.

From old to efficient - rock'n roll in the wind farm with ENERTRAG

How existing wind sites can be efficiently renewed with modern technology: more electricity yield, fewer turbines, lower costs and maximum benefits for operators, investors and the energy transition.

What you should bring to the interview:

Our checklist will help you to assess whether repowering could make sense for you:

  • Site information (location, area)
  • Current key figures on energy generation
  • Overview of existing turbines (year of construction, type, output)
  • Contract details (e.g. terms)
  • Information on any restrictions (construction height, species protection)
