ENERTRAG eröffnet neues Büro in Kiel
ENERTRAG inaugurates new office in Kiel
Kiel, 10 July 2024 -ENERTRAG, a leading German renewable energy company from the Uckermark region, is pleased to announce the official opening of its office in Kiel. This new location provides the company with a larger project team in Schleswig-Holstein alongside its Lübeck-based subsidiary ENERTRAG Service. The new office at Sophienblatt 36 is located directly opposite Kiel's main railway station and is easily accessible by bus, train and car.
Initial considerations for a permanent office location in Kiel were made back in 2020. After a two-year test phase in a coworking space in Kaistraße, the need for a permanent location became apparent for discussions with interested parties. What began with just two employees has developed into a permanent team of ten. This success story enables reliable project development and management thanks to the increased number of staff. The Kiel office also offers the advantage that initial consultations through to approval applications can be carried out on site.
The development of the project pipeline in Schleswig-Holstein is very satisfactory and ENERTRAG has already achieved significant successes in acquisitions and approvals. With the state government's target of utilising 3.3% of the state's land area for wind power, ENERTRAG feels motivated to achieve the renewable energy targets in Schleswig-Holstein as well.
For the office in Kiel, it is particularly important to drive forward PtX (Power-to-X) projects in relation to the energy transition so that sensible hydrogen and heating concepts can be made available to communities. Renewable energies with a capacity of 140% of demand are currently available in Schleswig-Holstein, but they often have to be curtailed. ENERTRAG is committed to making the surplus energy usable by making it available to local communities in the form of hydrogen, heat and battery storage. The aim is to implement the successful model of the ENERTRAG integrated power plant (Verbundkraftwerk), which can replace 100% of a fossil-fuelled power plant, in Schleswig-Holstein. The federal state is predestined for this, as the large quantities of renewable electricity generated can only realise their full potential through the integrated power plant and at the same time contribute to regional value creation.
Around 20 representatives from politics and economics visited the new ENERTRAG office in Kiel, got to know the team and gained an overview of current projects.
Tobias Goldschmidt, Minister for Energy Transition in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, welcomed the settlement of ENERTRAG in his state: "Schleswig-Holstein will become a climate-neutral industrial state by 2040. We have good prospects of achieving this if industry invests today in technologies that will enable climate-neutral production tomorrow. With the expansion of renewable energies, we have laid the foundations for this transformation here in the state at a very early stage. The conditions in the "True North" for multi-faceted companies such as Enertrag are therefore ideal: the economy can help shape the energy transition and benefit from it. A warm welcome to Schleswig-Holstein."
Jörn Genoux, Head of the Department of Economic Affairs of the state capital Kiel, pointed out the rapid development in the field of innovative energy solutions in the Kiel region and sees ENERTRAG as an important partner: "We are delighted that Enertrag, a pioneering company in the renewable energy sector, has discovered Kiel as a location. That fits the picture. After all, a lot is currently happening in this field in the state capital. Companies that develop innovative energy solutions are setting up in Kiel or in the Kiel region. Some Kiel companies are expanding their business in this sector. With Enertrag, another important company is now part of this newly emerging network. And as an industry pioneer, Enertrag will contribute to strengthening this network in the long term."
Reimar von Wachholtz, Head of the Kiel office and Regional Manager for Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony at ENERTRAG, is convinced of renewable energies and their impact on society: "We want to pave the way for a fossil-free future. We are currently living at the expense of our children and grandchildren. ENERTRAG is committed to bringing the values of renewable energy generation to life and making renewable energy affordable - so that our descendants will also find an earth worth living on."
