TransHyDE 2.0 startet – Neue Initiative für die Wasserstoff-Infrastruktur

With the aim of advancing the European hydrogen infrastructure, the TransHyDE 2.0 initiative will be launched in Berlin on May 6, 2025. Dr. Anne Bendzulla, responsible for Generation at ENERTRAG, will assume the position of designated second chairwoman for the area of industry coordination.

TransHyDE 2.0 builds on the previous national hydrogen flagship project TransHyDE and expands the holistic approach to include industry-driven content.

The initiative sees itself as:

  • Nucleus of new hydrogen infrastructures & derivative projects
  • Advisory platform for politics, business & society
  • Mediator between industry & research
  • Network along the hydrogen value chain

The engine room of a future hydrogen infrastructure

The focus is on seven implementation platforms (gaseous hydrogen, liquid hydrogen, ammonia, liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC), dimethyl ether (DME) & carbon dioxide and methanol) as well as four accompanying research platforms in the areas of system analysis, standardization & safety, market and regulation as well as acceptance.

"The founding of the TransHyDE 2.0 initiative is an important step towards the further establishment of a hydrogen infrastructure," explains Dr. Stefan Kaufmann. "TransHyDE 2.0 is intended to promote the large-scale implementation of a European hydrogen infrastructure and bundle cooperation with other projects in a meaningful way. Membership of TransHyDE 2.0 therefore brings benefits such as exclusive knowledge, project synergies, access to funding and greater visibility in the industry."

Dr. Anne Bendzulla, COO at ENERTRAG, adds: "We are on the threshold of industrial implementation of the hydrogen economy. With TransHyDE 2.0, we are bringing technological approaches into concrete projects in a targeted manner - this is crucial in order to set the pace. ENERTRAG is contributing its practical experience and helping to build bridges between research, industry and infrastructure."

Launch of the initiative with twelve members and support from the BMWK

TransHyDE 2.0 receives support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. Dr. Axel Bree, UAL II B Hydrogen Ramp-up and Energy Research, will strengthen the advisory board.

The initiative starts with twelve members from research, industry and business:

Clean World Hydrogen Consulting GmbH, cruh21 - Part of Drees & Sommer, DVGW Deutscher Verein des Gas- und Wasserfaches e.V., ENERTRAG SE, Eternal Power GmbH, Forschungsstelle für Energiewirtschaft e.V., Fraunhofer-Institute for Energy Infrastructures and Geotechnologies IEG, Gas- und Wärme-Institut Essen e.V., Mabanaft GmbH & Co KG, NET4GAS s.r.o., SEFE Securing Energy for Europe GmbH and ZBT - Zentrum für Brennstoffzellen-Technik GmbH.

The designated founding board is made up of representatives of the founding members:

  • Dr. Stefan Kaufmann (Clean Hydrogen Consulting) - 1st Chairman
  • Dr. Anne Bendzulla (ENERTRAG SE) - 2nd Chairwoman for the area of industry coordination
  • Dr. Friederike Eggert (SEFE) - 2nd Chairwoman for the area of industry coordination
  • Prof. Dr. Mario Ragwitz (Fraunhofer IEG) - 2nd Chair for the area of research coordination
  • Jimmie Langham (cruh21 - Part of Drees & Sommer) - 2nd Chairman for the area of Finance & Funding
