ELECTROLYSER

Alkaline electrolyser (AEL) Wittenhof

Technical data

  • 560 KW Nominal output
  • 94,000 kg H2 Annual production
  • 2011 Commissioning
  • 21 million euros Investment volume

How it works

Electrolysers split water into hydrogen and oxygen using an electric current. The gas produced can be easily stored and transported.

Benefits in the Verbundkraftwerk

  • Storage of renewable energy in coupled hydrogen storage possible
  • Increasing flexibility and grid stability by drawing surplus electricity from wind and PV systems
  • Stabilisation of the power grid through hydrogen reconversion

Special feature of ENERTRAG

ENERTRAG only produces green hydrogen, as the electrolyser is powered by renewable energy.
