ENERTRAG and the city of Prenzlau conclude contracts for financial participation in wind turbines
Dauerthal, October 14, 2024 | ENERTRAG, a leading developer of renewable energies, and the city of Prenzlau today reached another milestone in regional participation in the energy transition. In cooperation with the city of Prenzlau, contracts were signed for the financial participation of the municipality in the income from the wind turbines owned by ENERTRAG in accordance with Section 6 (1) No. 1 EEG 2023.
Under the agreement, Prenzlau will participate directly in the proceeds from a total of 50 wind turbines. This participation ensures that the city benefits from the energy transition not only ecologically but also economically. The resulting financial contribution strengthens the municipal budget and offers new investment opportunities for local citizens. Up to 0.2 cents per kilowatt hour per year is paid as a municipal contribution. The plants on which the contract is based produce between 4 and 11 million kilowatt hours per year and plant, depending on the performance class and year of construction.
The cooperation with the town of Prenzlau is one of a series of successful partnerships that ENERTRAG has already entered into with other municipalities in the Uckermark in recent months, including the municipality of Uckerland and municipalities in the Brüssow district. These partnerships underline how municipalities can both act in a climate-friendly manner and strengthen their budgets through renewable energies.
"We are delighted to be taking our long-standing partnership with the town of Prenzlau to a new level of cooperation by concluding this agreement and thanking them for the trust they have placed in us over the years. The citizens benefit directly from the proceeds of the wind turbines, while we jointly promote regional value creation and the expansion of renewable energies," explains Tom Lange, Head of Wind and PV Development at ENERTRAG.
"The financial participation in the wind turbines gives us as a city an excellent opportunity to use these funds to realize projects in our local and municipal districts - which are also located in the direct vicinity of the turbines. We look forward to continuing our cooperation with ENERTRAG," commented Hendrik Sommer, Mayor of Prenzlau.
