The Virtual Power Plant for Direct Sellers
ENERTRAG PowerTrade is the virtual power plant inside ENERTRAG Powersystem. The software transmits the actual output from all connected systems in real time, puts schedules in place smoothly and supplies availability forecasts via standardized interfaces. ENERTRAG PowerTrade has been managing all kinds of wind turbine and solar installation reliably on the market for over ten years.
Direct sellers manage hundreds of energy systems of different manufacturers and generations. Older wind turbines respond to control commands in a different way to modern PV systems: some cannot handle rapid switch-on and switch-off, while others cannot be regulated incrementally. Anyone who loses track at this point risks damaging their systems and straying off schedule.
BWE Interface
Developed in accordance with the standard adopted by the German Wind Energy Association (BWE), our interface allows direct sellers to get unavailability information on systems and parks straight from the management software used by the relevant operators.
Operations managers or direct sellers using Powersystem do not need any intermediaries for transmission. Direct sellers get unavailability information without any time lag, while operations managers do not require a separate interface.

Actual outputs in real time
ENERTRAG PowerTrade transmits the actual feed-in figures from all connected energy systems in real time, while ENERTRAG Powersystem’s data flow hub receives output data from systems of any manufacturer, pools it and makes it available to the operator. Thus you can always see how much power each system is feeding in.
Remote control with schedules
You set schedules in advance, which ENERTRAG PowerTrade applies to your systems by automated means – reliably and around the clock. The software manages wind turbines, PV systems and other forms of power generation via a standard user interface.
Availability forecasts
ENERTRAG PowerTrade transmits unavailability information on all systems as a clear, easy-to-read time series. You get your availability forecast via the standard BWE interface or bespoke API connections. The software also allows unavailability data to be input manually.
Protective filters for older systems
Older wind turbines cannot handle rapid switch-on and switch-off, a lesson that ENERTRAG has learnt from over 25 years of operational experience. PowerTrade translates the schedule in a specific way for each individual system, switching sensitive systems on and off smoothly while sticking to the schedule and protecting the equipment against overload. These protective filters represent a key difference from virtual power plants that lack operational management experience.
Data quality and a control centre for data flows
The quality of control commands and feedback depends on the quality of the data connection involved. ENERTRAG PowerTrade uses ENERTRAG Powersystem’s data flow control centre to monitor every single such flow continuously. The moment a system stops transmitting data or a gap emerges, the control centre detects the issue automatically and notifies the relevant personnel.
This is how ENERTRAG ensures that actual output data, control commands and availability forecasts are always underpinned by reliable data.
Safety, security and readiness

ENERTRAG’s virtual power plant is certified to ISO 27001 (information security) and meets the requirements of the German Federal Office for Information Security’s Critical Infrastructure Ordinance (BSI-KritisV) for operating critical infrastructure. - 24/7 readiness
ENERTRAG is on hand around the clock, i.e. even at nights and weekends. The team will respond straight away in the event of problems with the data connection or unexpected system states.
Integration into existing IT landscapes
ENERTRAG PowerTrade can be integrated seamlessly into your existing systems via API interfaces. The software supplies availability forecasts via the standard German Wind Energy Association (BWE) interface or via custom automation solutions, and actual output data and control commands use the same infrastructure. Rather than switching over your existing processes, all you need to do is integrate PowerTrade into your existing IT landscape.
