Green Fuels Lausitz

Green methanol from the Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park.

Hamburger Rieger GmbH and ENERTRAG, together with partners, are developing a power-to-liquid project at the Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park (Lausitz). A demonstration plant is planned to produce up to 200,000 tons of climate-friendly e-methanol per year. This can be used as marine fuel or further processed into sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF). The project represents an important contribution to the development of Europe’s first Net Zero Valley and to structural transformation in the Lausitz region.

"We have developed our knowledge in the areas of sector coupling and hydrogen production not only through our experience of operating our electrolysis plant for several years, but also through active participation in several research and innovation projects. Now we are bringing this knowledge to drive the energy transition in sectors that are difficult to decarbonise and help build a market for green hydrogen."
